Brotherly Love

Posted By: Jeremy Pugh, January 31, 2016

Aaron pops out of the trees in Honeycomb Canyon smiling through a snow-laden beard.

“Dude, we are coming back up here. There’s like three feet of powder in these

chutes.”

This is exploring Solitude with my younger brother.

Down with the Dirty Water Burger

Posted By: Jeremy Pugh, January 26, 2016

The dirty water burger. Ugh.

It’s the bane of ski resort grub. Sure, they smell good. That’s how they lure you in. That’s how they get ya. The sound of sizzling and smoke of charred beef floats across the base area runs, drawing you to the boisterous patio like one of Pavlov’s dogs.

No kiss or a kiss with the wrong person. All of it leading to a wadded up tuxedo jacket in the corner the next morning and a hangover to welcome in 2016.

Finding Solitude for the first time, again

Posted By: Jeremy Pugh, December 11, 2015

First days. Life is full of first days. First day of kindergarten, first  visit from the tooth fairy, first day of high school, college, first wedding day, first day in court, on and on and on. I, as a 43-year-old man, have well passed through all the firsts life has to offer, but every ski season I walk into the first day on the mountain like it was my first ever. It seems that the spring, summer and fall in-between winters instill a seasonal amnesia.
