Top Six Can't-Miss Activities at Solitude this Summer

Posted By: Solitude Mountain, June 26, 2019

Summer at Solitude is a magical getaway — whether you live in the Salt Lake Valley or travel here from farther afield. Here are a few can’t-miss activities to keep in mind as you plot your escape.

Brunch at Honeycomb Grill

Start your day in the mountains on an appetizing note at the Honeycomb Grill. Ease into the weekend on our picturesque patio with brunch classics like avocado toast as well as distinctive flavors such as grilled shrimp skewers and kimchi Reuben. Don’t forget to add a traditional mimosa or get adventurous with the “Summer Breeze” cocktail featuring locally-crafted Sugarhouse vodka.

Mountain biking

Mountain biking is the perfect way to access remote corners of the great outdoors and cover lots of ground in the course of an afternoon. It’s also a fantastic workout – but don’t let that scare you! Hit the trail and explore over 20 miles of single-track and forest roads at Solitude. Experience variety and challenge yourself while enjoying our breathtaking natural surroundings that continually change throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Bike rentals are available seven days a week from the Powderhorn Adventure Center in Solitude Village.

Live music à la mode

On Sunday afternoons, grab a $2 ice cream cone from Stone Haus Pizzeria & Creamery and settle in on the Village Green for some live entertainment. Bring your own blankets and chairs, or dance along to the tunes of Talia Keys, Stonefed, Megan Blue, and many more! Check our events calendar for the full summer lineup.

Play our 18-hole disc golf course

Host of the Professional Disc Golf Association’s annual Solitude Open, our 18-hole course is open to the public and free to use seven days a week. Hike to the first hole, or treat yourself to a scenic chairlift ride (available Fri-Sun), and then drive, chip, and putt your way down. Discs, instructions, and scorecards are available from the Powderhorn Adventure Center in Solitude Village.

Yoga

Start your weekend right by stretching and strengthening in the fresh mountain air each Saturday morning (conditions permitting). Yoga takes place on the lawn of The Inn at Solitude, and a limited number of mats are available to borrow for no charge.

Explore the Natural World

Join Solitude’s resident geologist and astronomer, Rodger Fry, to study the rock formations and the heavenly constellations that surround us at Solitude Mountain Resort. On selected Saturdays, Fry guides guests on an informative lift-served geology hike around the resort. A lift ticket or pass is required to participate in the full hike. When the nights get shorter, guests are welcome to peer through high-powered telescopes aimed at notable celestial objects on the Last Chance lawn near Apex Express chairlift. Bring your own blanket and settle in to marvel at the night sky. Check our events calendar for dates and times.
