EARLY-SEASON UPHILL TRAVEL POLICY
From 4:30 p.m. — 10:00 p.m. uphill travel is permitted in the Sunrise area. All other terrain is closed to uphill travel. Easy Street may be used to access the Sunrise area from the Moonbeam parking lot.

  • Participants must obtain an Uphill Travel Pass. Passes are free, valid for the current season, and available during resort operating hours at our guest services desks, located on the lower level of the Snowsports building and Powderhorn ticket office. Participants must show their Uphill Travel Pass to resort personnel when requested.
  • Travel above the top of Sunrise chairlift, including travel through the Evening Star gate and Summit Access East, is not permitted.
  • The use of lights (headlamps) and reflective clothing is required.
  • Accessing this terrain is done at your own risk. Backcountry conditions exist.
  • Approach summer access roads with caution; steep drop-offs onto pavement may not be marked.
  • Call 911 for injuries or emergency response. Solitude ski patrol is not available, and rescue response time may be prolonged. Cellular service at Solitude can be spotty.
  • Hazards may not be marked.
  • Sledding is not permitted anywhere within the resort boundary.
  • Use of the Terrain Park is not allowed.
  • Children in backpacks or child carriers are not allowed.
  • Ascend in a single file on either side of the trail.
  • Mountain operations are ongoing. Snowmobiles and snow cats in the area must be given a wide berth. Move aside and allow them to pass before continuing. It is very difficult for snowcat operators to see uphill travelers, skiers, and snowboarders at night. It is your job to avoid them!
  • Pay special attention to winch cat operations. Winch cables are extremely dangerous to be around and are difficult to see. If you see a winch cat in operation, leave the area immediately.
  • Bathrooms are located on the lower level of the Snowsports building at the Moonbeam base area.
  • If you pack it in, pack it out.

Accessing this terrain responsibly and within the policy guidelines will help to ensure the success, continuation, and potential growth of this program.

Stone Haus and the Village Store are open daily.
