Celebrate Earth Day at Solitude with various activities plus vendors outside of Moonbeam Lodge. Further your appreciation of the unique mountain environment by joining one or both of our free, on-snow, naturalist-led tours.
Geology Ski Tour
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
requires intermediate skiing or riding ability
Enjoy an informative guided ski and snowboard tour around the resort studying rock formations and learning the history of how Solitude was formed. Meet at the base of Apex Express. We will then make our way to Summit and descend while exploring the natural and human history of the canyon.
Cottonwood Canyons Foundation Ski with a Ranger
1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
for skiers and riders of all levels
Deepen your knowledge of Solitude and Big Cottonwood Canyon with tour stops that focus on geology, winter ecology, watershed history, and wildlife. This 45-minute tour is free, available to all levels, and no registration is required. Meet at 1:00 p.m. near the map at the top of Moonbeam Express. Look for the volunteer naturalist rangers in the bright blue jackets!
Both tours are free, but lift access is required. Tours may be canceled based on weather conditions.
